Asphalt Repair

Keep Your Asphalt Surfaces Maintained

Asphalt is widely used for a range of applications because it provides an affordable, long-lasting, and aesthetically pleasing alternative for parking lots, driveways, and walkways. Of course, normal wear and tear and exposure to the elements can cause some common problems with your asphalt surfaces.

Common issues with asphalt paving

Cracking: A variety of factors, including oxidation, heavy loads, and water penetration, can cause cracks to develop. Further damage may result from water seeping into the base layers through these cracks.

Potholes: The expansion and contraction of water beneath the pavement's surface is usually the cause of potholes. They may also be the consequence of weather-related and traffic-related asphalt deterioration.

Raveling is the loose, rough surface layer that happens when the asphalt binder wears away. Raveling is frequently brought on by oxidation, aging, and poor upkeep.

Depressions: Also referred to as birdbaths, depressions occur when the asphalt surface is not properly sloped for drainage, allowing standing water to accumulate and eventually weakening the pavement.

Methods to repair issues with asphalt paving

Crack sealing is a popular repair technique for cracks. In order to stop water infiltration and additional deterioration, the crack must be filled with a heated sealant.

Patching Potholes: Potholes can be fixed by removing the broken asphalt and using patching material or new asphalt to fill the hole. We can skin patch asphalt, or take care of partial and full depth patches for deeper holes.

Overlay: An overlay may be used if there is significant deterioration of the asphalt surface. This is covering the current surface with a fresh layer of asphalt to increase its sturdiness and strength.

Neglecting asphalt paving problems

Ignoring issues with the asphalt surface can result in larger problems down the road, such as additional deterioration and more extensive (and expensive) repairs.

Untreated cracks and holes allow water to seep in and erode the pavement's foundation, which can result in structural failure and costly repairs or replacement. Water that seeps into cracks in places where there are freeze-thaw cycles may freeze and expand, causing the asphalt to crack and crumble.

The cost of ignoring problems with the asphalt surface can vary based on the extent of the damage and the required repairs. It is obvious that taking care of problems right away can help avoid more expensive repairs later on.
